Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we wrap up Term 2, we want to extend our thanks to all of you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. It’s been a busy and rewarding term, and we’re excited to share some highlights and upcoming opportunities with you.
We would like to extend our thanks to our wonderful Manager Corporate Services (MCS), Narelle Maconachie, who will be leaving the Department to pursue exciting new opportunities. Her dedication, professionalism, and support have made a positive impact on our school community, and she will be greatly missed. We wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.
I am pleased to welcome our new MCS, Mrs Trish Abdallah, to the role. Trish will commence officially in Term 3 but will be in the office working with us over the next couple of weeks. We look forward to Trish joining our team.
Cross Country Success – Wednesday 11 June
Our annual School Cross Country event was a fantastic success! We were blessed with amazing weather, and it was wonderful to see so many parents in attendance—thank you for coming along and cheering on our students.
The students gave it their all, showing incredible participation and truly fabulous sportsmanship throughout the day. Their enthusiasm and encouragement for one another were inspiring and a testament to the positive culture we’re building together.
A huge thank you goes to our dedicated PE teacher and all staff members who helped make the day run smoothly. Your efforts ensured a safe, fun, and memorable experience for everyone involved.
Open Parent Night – Wednesday 25 June
We warmly invite all families to our Open Parent Night on Wednesday 25 June. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to:
From 4.30 – 5.30pm
- Visit their child’s classroom and view some of their schoolwork
- Walk around the school and explore learning spaces
- Visit the Art Room, Music Room, and School Library, where a wide array of student artwork will be on display
From 5.30 – 6.30pm
- Meet in the undercover area to listen to our beautiful school choir present
- Work with Curtin University students who will be delivering a Renewable Energy activity for the school community to be involved in.
The P&C has organised a sausage sizzle for the evening.
It’s a celebration of learning and creativity, and we hope to see you there!
Mental Health and Wellbeing in Schools
At our school, we believe that supporting mental health and wellbeing is just as important as academic learning. We strive to create a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued, and empowered to grow emotionally and socially.
To further enrich our wellbeing programs, we’re excited to announce our participation in a nationwide anti-bullying initiative during Anti-Bullying Week – Bullying No Way! held from 11–15 August.
On Monday 11 August at 11:00 AM, students will take part in a live video lesson delivered by Kids Helpline, focusing on understanding bullying, building empathy, and learning strategies to support themselves and others. This is a valuable opportunity to reinforce the importance of kindness, respect, and resilience.
Parent Talk: The Resilience Blueprint
We’re thrilled to offer a special parent session titled ‘The Resilience Blueprint: How to Raise Emotionally Strong Children’, presented by Ben Grafton from the University of Western Australia. This talk will provide practical insights and strategies to help parents support their children’s emotional development and resilience.
These events are important because they strengthen our whole-school approach to wellbeing. By engaging both students and parents, we build a united community that prioritises emotional health, respectful relationships, and lifelong coping skills.
EduDance Begins Week 1 of Term 3
We’re excited to announce that EduDance will commence in Week 1 of Term 3! This program is a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, coordination, and creativity through dance.
If you haven’t yet paid for your child’s participation, please do so as soon as possible to ensure they don’t miss out. EduDance is a highlight of the term and a wonderful experience for all involved.
Please see the attached schedule for class times and details.
Science Week Celebrations
This term, our students have been actively engaged in Science Week, exploring the wonders of science through a variety of hands-on activities and learning experiences. One of the highlights was the Science Alive incursion, which brought exciting demonstrations and interactive experiments right into our school across all year levels.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing Mrs Brolsma for her incredible work in planning and organising a full week of engaging activities. Her passion for science and dedication to student learning made this week a truly memorable experience for everyone.
Science Week is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young minds, encourage inquiry, and celebrate the role of science in our everyday lives. Well done to all students for their enthusiastic participation!
NAIDOC Week & Reconciliation Action Plan
In Week 10, our school will proudly celebrate NAIDOC Week, recognising and honouring the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will be involved in a range of meaningful activities designed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of First Nations perspectives.
A special thank you to Miss Christina Hird and the HASS committee for their outstanding work in coordinating the week’s events. The thoughtful planning has ensured that students can engage in rich learning experiences that promote respect, inclusion, and cultural awareness.
We’re also excited to share that our school has developed a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in collaboration with representatives from our school community, Mr Sean McCann and Mrs Brodie Daley and the School Board. The RAP was developed through the Narragunnawali Program. While we’ve already been doing significant work in this space, the RAP allows us to value-add and continue the wonderful progress we’ve made. It provides a clear framework to guide our actions and deepen our commitment to reconciliation through meaningful, sustained initiatives.
Reminder to Parents
We kindly ask that all students leave the school grounds promptly at the end of the school day. Students should not be running around the school after hours, as this poses a risk of injury and they are unsupervised. Our cleaning staff have also reported that students are entering buildings and using toilets that have already been cleaned and prepared for the next day. If you are using the netball courts after school, please ensure your children remain with you at all times and do not wander around the school grounds. Staff members are still working during this time and are not responsible for student supervision; disruptions can impact their ability to complete important tasks. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school safe and respectful for everyone.

Fathering Project
A big thank you to Aaron Primrose and everyone who helped make the Fathering Project Movie Night on Friday 6 June such a fantastic event. It was wonderful to see so many dads and their kids, and a couple of mums as father figures come together to enjoy a relaxed evening of fun, connection, and community spirit. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the smiles on the kids’ faces said it all. The kids loved the movie, popcorn and drink! A great success all around!
